  1. Evaluation of the most common approaches to segmenting SMEs and of the efficiency of existing support measures (grants, tax credits and vouchers etc.).

  2. Development of an improved methodology for segmenting SMEs that takes into account the SMEs' life-cycles, sectors, innovation cycles and specific socio-cultural environments.

  3. Specification of a more efficient way of matching suitable support measures to segments of (potentially) innovative SMEs

  4. Implementation of a decision support tool (DST) based on the SMEthod methodology and disseminating/exploitating it among innovation supporting agencies, regional development agencies and the scientific community.
